Ninety minutes north of Kansas City near Eagleville, Missouri lies one of the Nature Conservancy’s greatest local treasures, the Dunn Ranch Prairie. It’s a pristine example of the kind of ecosystem that once covered this region but that now, less than one percent remains. Anne Copeland Davis has more on a unique habitat, where the bison and native birds roam. Summer on the Dunn Ranch, when the wildflowers are in full bloom, is particularly colorful.
