Ruth Ezell visits with former Left Bank Books co-owner Barry Leibman about his career as an artist and his more than 30-year involvement with Left Bank Books. Leibman started as a bookseller at the store and in 1977 he and Kris Kleindienst became co-owners of the shop. Since the 1970s Left Bank Books has featured art exhibits on its lower level, and in the late 1980s Leibman became serious about his own artwork. He had his first exhibit in 1990. He recently sold his interest in the store and he and his wife plan to move to an Island in the Puget Sound region off the coast of Seattle, Washington. He will, however, always have a place in the hearts of St. Louisans for his time at Left Bank Books.
