Patrick Murphy revisits an earlier story about the Danforth Plant Science Center, which participated in a live broadcast of NPR’s Science Friday recently in St. Louis. In his earlier report Murphytours the center, where researchers are studying the cassava plant, an important source of food for 800 million people on earth. These plants are vulnerable to disease and lack several essential vitamins and nutrients. Scientists at the Danforth Center are conducting experiments to produce new cassava plants with traits that add nutritional content.
