Nine Network’s Dr. Seuss Birthday Party Attracts 5,000 Visitors to The Magic House

February Event Collected Over 500 New Books to Distribute to Children in Need 

St. Louis, MOMarch 2, 2012—The Dr. Seuss Birthday/Read Across America party presented by the Nine Network and Mercy Children’s Hospital drew 5,000 visitors to The Magic House on February 25 and 26. The weekend event also collected 537 children’s books that are being distributed to Joplin Public Schools’ Bright Futures program and to other children in need.

The Cat in the Hat was a special guest at the party celebrating author Dr. Seuss’ 108th birthday. Children who brought a new book to donate were admitted free to the festivities, where they were able to make their own Cat hat, pose for Seussian-themed complimentary photos and enjoy being read to by celebrities such as Donnybrook panelists Bill McClellan, Wendy Wiese and Charlie Brennan, as well as Mercy Children’s Hospital pediatrician Dr. Maggie Mueller, who is featured in a children’s health promotional series on the Nine Network.

The Nine Network welcomed 3,300 visitors to The Magic House on Saturday and 1,700 visitors on Sunday.

The television series The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! is broadcast Monday–Friday at 7:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. on Nine PBS.
