Free Community Cinema Screening on May 5, 7:00 p.m.
The public is invited to a free Community Cinema screening of the film Welcome to Shelbyville on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. No reservations are required. Set in the heart of America’s Bible Belt, Welcome to Shelbyville focuses on a small Southern town where white and African American residents are grappling with rapid demographic change and issues of immigrant integration as Latino and Somali populations rise.
The audience is welcome to join a panel discussion hosted by Nine Network producer Jim Kirchherr immediately after the film.
Welcome to Shelbyville will be broadcast on the Nine Network’s Independent Lens series on May 29. The event is presented by the Nine Network of Public Media and the Missouri History Museum in collaboration with Independent Lens, ITVS and the Employees Community Fund of the Boeing Company.
