Nine Network Special Explores Success of Community Partnerships in Schools; Nine’s Stay Tuned Follows Up Later in the Week With Discussion of Student Transfers and Accreditation

St. Louis, MO—May 14, 2014—Schoolwork, an American Graduate special, explores how innovative methods and community partnerships are being used in the St. Louis area to improve student performance and to help school districts meet Missouri’s new state accreditation standards. The half-hour program airs Monday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. on Nine PBS.

The program, part of the Nine Network’s American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen initiative, will look at a community partnership involving Washington University and Brittany Woods Middle School in University City. Meanwhile, at the Ferguson Florissant School District, the program will look at how data is being used to track students and teachers to spot potential problems. Schoolwork will also include student conversations and a discussion with St. Louis Public Radio education reporters Tim Lloyd and Dale Singer.

Three days later, on Thursday, May 22 at 9:00 p.m., Nine’s weekly, hour-long public affairs series Stay Tuned will look at school district transfers and accreditation through the experience of students and administrators in the Normandy and Riverview Gardens districts.
