The Nine Network Wins Three Mid-America Emmy Awards

Programs Focusing on Nine Network Initiatives—American Graduate, Beyond November and Our Region’s Health—Each Win One 

 

St. Louis, MO—October 7, 2012—The Nine Network of Public Media won three Emmy Awards from the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), it was announced at ceremonies in St. Louis on Saturday, October 5.

 

A Living St. Louis segment on compulsory education won in the Historic/Cultural Program Feature Segment category for producer Jim Kirchherr. The segment is part of the national American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen initiative being led by the Nine Network both in St. Louis and across the country. The Emmy-winning piece explored changing attitudes about mandatory schooling in Missouri since the early 1900s.

 

Kirchherr and producer Anne-Marie Berger also won Emmy Awards in the Politics/Government category for Beyond November Voters Guide, a pre-election comparison of political races, issues and candidates that was part of the Beyond November initiative, a partnership with St. Louis Public Radio and the St. Louis Beacon; and in the Specialty Assignment category for Health, Money and Politics: Missouri’s Medicaid Debate, a special that was part of the ongoing Our Region’s Health initiative.  

     

Berger is a resident of Maplewood. Kirchherr lives in University City.
