Gateway Gallery presents 'Artini' featuring art by Annie Piffel Smith April 4-May 17, 2013
Gateway Gallery in Clayton presents "Artini" April 4- May 17, 2013, featuring an intoxicating mix of paintings by Annie Smith Piffel. Working with pastels, oils, acrylics and watercolor creating realistic to vibrant abstracts, Annie's style is varied but each piece speaks its own language.
Annie is on the board of Turner Center for the Arts, and her work is in permanent collections at Clayton City Hall, corporate and private collections in the United States and Canada. An "artist in training" since childhood drawing along with Jon Gnagy's art show, Annie now mentors many students who received her private art instruction or classes at St Louis Community College. Teaching "The Artist in You" class for SLARC and her Maplewood studio, Annie encourages her students and ignites their passion to create, imagine, explore and play, and feeds their spirit through their own creative art process.
Artists' reception April 12 will also feature guest artists Denzil Hawes-Davis,Carol Fleming and Cheryl Dorris.
Denzil Hawes-Davis will exhibit his photographic reflections of stillness in motion featuring photos of nature and people and their various patterns, backgrounds, colors, shapes and abstracts. A recently retired physician, Denzil has shown and sold his art at Jefferson City Capital Arts Gallery, MO Department of Conservation and Hallo Art Auctions in Kansas City and Jefferson City.
Also featured are well known St Louis sculptor Carol Fleming and hergiant eggs and other sculptures, and Cheryl Dorris with her landscape photography from various sites locally and abroad.
