Camp In' Under the Arch
WHAT: Join the National Park Service on August 24 and August 25 for a special family fun day, and discover ways to enjoy the great outdoors. This free event commemorates the 97th birthday of the National Park Service. Hosted in the lobby of the Gateway Arch, kids are invited to explore a life-size tipi, learn how to pitch a tent and sing songs around the campfire. Park rangers will also present interactive lessons about tree identification and the Plains Indians.
"Birthdays are a time to celebrate and we want everyone, especially the children of America, to join the party," said Ann Honious, Chief, Museum Services and Interpretation, Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. "National parks belong to all Americans and offer something for everyone. At Camp In' Under the Arch, we are excited to educate families on how to make the most of visiting a national park."
