University Sculpture Competition Unveiling
Chesterfield Arts, city dignitaries and public art experts unveil St. Louisan, Rod Callies' winning sculpture in the culmination of the 2012-13 University Sculpture Competition on Sept. 21. The event begins at† 4:30 p.m. with a panel discussion featuring nationally-recognized public artists and experts at Chesterfield YMCA and ends with the sculpture unveiling along the Stream Walk near the Chesterfield Amphitheater. The interactive piece of public art called "Aspire" is intended to reflect the importance of public art in the community and the ability of public art to convey value, stimulate questions and evoke wonder and mystery. Both activities are free and open to the public. The unveiling is followed by a free concert and fireworks.
