'Willem de Looper: All That Jazz...' works from the 80s and 90s
Atrium Gallery proudly announces an upcoming exhibition featuring important paintings from the last decades of Willem de Looper's career. "Willem de Looper: All That Jazz..." with works from the 80s and 90s, will feature a selection of the best remaining paintings from that imp0ortant period of this international artist's work. Music, and jazz in particular, was a pervasive influence in de Looper's painting and this exhibition pays homage to that connection. Willem de Looper, a Dutch-born artist who spent his adult life in the U.S., carried with him his Northern European influence and was also associated with the Washington Color School in the 60s and early 70s. However, he soon developed his own distinct identity which continued to characterize his work. His paintings have been included in many of the most prestigious museum and private collections and exhibited in the U.S. and abroad.† The exhibition will open November 22 and run through January 17, 2014.
