15th Annual St. Louis Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition
The St. Louis Watercolor Society is pleased to announce their upcoming 15th annual competitive art exhibition. This annual event showcases the work of local artists in the area of watermedia.
Eric Wiegardt AWS DF, NWS, a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, has taught over 5,000 watercol-orists his popular “Secrets of Painting Loose” workshops. Over 4,000 original paintings have been collected privately and corporately. He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (Dolphin Fellow), National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America (Master Status) and others. He has been awarded the 2012 AWS Gold Medal of Honor, among many other national and interna-tional awards. He was invited to the Third Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary Interna-tional Watermedia Masters in China. Featured in many publications as well as cover artist for both The Artist’s Magazine and Watercolor Artist Magazine, Eric is the author of the North Light Book Watercolor Free and Easy. ‘He has a video series titled Painting Loosely from Photographs. Eric is a nationally recognized judge, juror, and award winner and has left an indelible mark on the American art scene with more than 27 years of professional painting and teaching experience. He will jury our 2014 Creative Gallery Show.
In addition, Eric will present an evening demo, Wednesday April 9, at 7:00 pm at the Maria Center, 336 East Ripa Ave. St. Louis, MO 63125. Tickets are $10 each at the door.
This year’s exhibition is expected to draw over a 100 paintings by members of the St. Louis Watercolor Society in a vast array of styles and genres. These paintings will be on display from April 11ththrough May 10th at the Creative Art Gallery. The gallery is located at 3232 Ivanhoe in St. Louis and will be open M-F 9:30 to 5:30 and 10:00 until 5:00 on Saturday. An Opening Reception will be held Friday evening, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. with awards announced at 7 p.m.
The St. Louis Watercolor Society is a non-profit organization formed in 1996 for the purpose of providing educational opportunities to artists who are interested in water media and to exhibit artwork to the public.
