(ST. LOUIS) Duane Reed Gallery proudly announces its representation of painter Monroe Hodder, ceramic artist Ryan LaBar, and painter Miles Bair. Exhibition opens Friday, July 12th with a reception that evening 5 8pm. The exhibition will run through August 24th. Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10-5pm.

Hodder's experience working as an assistant to Manuel Neri at the San Fransisco Art Institute brought her into contact with Clyfford Still and Mark Rothko. Her career spans a number of chapters in the history of American art. About her work, she says: "The essence of my work is pure color, as Matisse understood it, color that 'must serve expression.'"

LaBar received his MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2010, and has worked as a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, the LH Project in Joseph, Oregon, and California State University Long Beach. Currently, Ryan is the director of residents at the LH Project, a prestigious ceramic arts residency program.

Bair is the director of the School of Art at Illinois Wesleyan University. His landscape paintings capture an essense of natural beauty and wonder. The deliberate and considerate placement of the thousands of dots that compose his visions provide rich contrast to the black underpainting and the ethereal, shimmering metallic leaf.
