There has been a lot of talk and media attention about how to address the dropout crisis in America. But equally as important is how local communities can come together to address the crisis.
To kick off a national/local initiative to help communities work together to improve high school graduation rates, Nine Network hosted a Teacher Town Hall, moderated by noted journalist Gwen Ifill of the PBS NewsHour, on Monday, November 7.
The Teacher Town Hall was Nine’s kickoff event for American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen — a five-year public media initiative bringing together educators, parents and youth, along with non-profit, civic and corporate entities to impact dropout rates regionally and nationally.
The Town Hall focused on capturing teachers’ perspectives and ideas to generate understanding and engage the broader community in conversation and action around this important set of issues.
