Become a Volunteer
As a nonprofit organization, Nine PBS would not be able to achieve its goals without our valuable volunteers. Whatever your interests might be, we are sure to have something rewarding for you to do. Individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer regularly or on an "as-needed" basis helping with administrative work, special projects, and special events.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities, Projects and Positions
Character Performer
Dress as a beloved PBS KIDS character, pose for photos, and interact with (mostly) children. This is a fun role if you enjoy theater, performing, and interacting with children. A “handler” will always assist you. This role requires a two-hour shift that consists of 30 minutes of “action,” followed by 30 minutes of rest.
Customer Service/Donor Engagement
Serve as an ambassador for Nine PBS by fielding calls and using communication, computer, internet, and database skills to interact with members. This role requires flexibility and a six-month commitment to volunteer one to three days a week for two to six hours each day. Training is provided.
Office Assistance
At the Nine PBS offices, assist our staff in assembling large mailings, data entry, and overall organization assistance.
Special Events
Help us make strong connections with our supporters and members of the community. Opportunities in this area involve welcoming visitors and assisting with the overall event logistics. This role requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, and availability for at least two events every six months. Training is provided.
Tour Guide
Help visitors learn about Nine PBS and its position as a national leader in public media. Must be able to communicate with people of all ages and to walk without sitting for 45 minutes at a time. This role requires a minimum of one tour every six months during normal business hours. Training is provided.
